By Shannon Collins |
The onset of the city’s yearly end-of-the-summer arts festival is quickly approaching, which means 200-plus new productions opening for 16 days of nonstop performances.
In its sixteenth year, the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe continues to support local and international performance artists, with more than 1,200-plus performances from 2,000 artists taking place.
The festival takes place in venues from traditional stages to alternative spaces across Philadelphia, from the streets of Old City’s historic district to the Merriam Theater on the Avenue of the Arts, from September 7th through 22nd.
With six world premieres and two U.S. premieres, the two week long event is a platform for daring and innovative artists, bringing leaders of the contemporary performing arts world to Philadelphia stages.
The 2012 programming will showcase theater works from Philadelphia’s leading art makers, including Pig Iron Theatre Company, Headlong Dance Theater, Brian Sanders’ JUNK, and Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental.
