Want to find out more about the paths to finding and preserving land for gardening? Southeast Philadelphia Collaborative, Philadelphia Urban Food & Fitness Alliance, and Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia are coming together to host an event about the city’s new vacant land policies. From water access for gardens and the new zoning code to licenses and permits for food production and food sales, this event is a much-needed milestone for vacant lot reclaiming in Philadelphia.

Angel Education: Social Entrepreneurship

Angel Education is presenting information on emerging technology investment areas for Angel investors at Quorum. Christopher Wink, co-founder of Technically Philly, will open with welcoming remarks and an industry overview. Keya Dannenbaum, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of ElectNext and Brian Sowards, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of USEED will be presenting a panel discussion about business models in social entrepreneurship. Leaders from GoodCompany Group, Meidlinger Partners, Balderston Capital and Sustain VC, and Arabella Advisors will also be participating in a panel discussion about investment decisions. A networking and lunch reception will follow.

Greenworks Update and 2012 Progress Report Launch

Greenworks Philadelphia, a plan of the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, sets 15 sustainability targets in the areas of energy, environment, equity, economy, and engagement to make Philadelphia the greenest city in America by 2015. The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability will release the Greenworks Midway Update and 2012 Progress Report, a report card on how the program is fairing and its plans for the future. Join them at the Academy, where you will hear from five leaders who are working hard to move the Philadelphia Greenworks initiative forward.

YIP Summer Jam Vol. 2

Young Involved Philadelphia is working with North Shore Beach Club this year to bring you their annual summer party and celebration of arts and music in Philly. Philadelphia’s local arts and music scene is among the best in the United States and for the second consecutive year, Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) is throwing a summer jam bash. The party will feature entertainment by music performers and artists. There will also be an art auction and raffle featuring items donated by: Arden Theater, Clay Studio, Live Nation, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Art Alliance, Philadelphia Museum of Art and Woodmere Art Museum.
